“Young Believers” passes 100,000 on Spotify
YOUNG BELIEVERS has passed 100,000 streams on Spotify some time today, becoming our fourth song to pass that mark after “George Best City”, “Four Winds” and “Diamond and the Missing Son”. We’re really happy that “Young Believers” has been taken to heart by a lot of you. It wasn’t on an album when we stuck it out on April 8th, 2018, but would later be on the First Ten (2012-2022) Compilation.
Festival Season for T-Shirts Incoming?
If like Azra below, you have the desire for an Unquiet Nights T-Shirt of the female variety, you’ll find it at this link. There’s a bit on the checkout page where you can write a note, and people have been known to ask specific requests in there. We see what we can do. Spring weather coming for T-Shirts and festival season, right?
Four Oh
Great food at @airrestaurant as usual on the old birthday week. This would be the big Four-Oh. Kind of bizarre to mostly be referred to as a young, emerging band when myself and Rodger have been having songs on the radio for 23 years. UN being 16 of those. Happy birthday to @aliciakeys and me for another year. We share the same birthday which is cool. I’ve loved her stuff since buying “The Diary of Alicia Keys” in the old Virgin Megastore in Belfast in 2003.
“Diamond…” passes 100,000 on Spotify
Thanks to everyone who has helped “Diamond & The Missing Son” become our fastest ever song to pass 100,000 Spotify streams. After more than 15 years of working on UN, it’s nice to see that people are liking our newer stuff too.
RIP Les Binks (1951-2025)
RIP Les Binks (08.08.1951 – 15.03.2025) Judas Priest drummer Les Binks was a long time supporter of ours. Apart from doing many great things in music, he was a very entertaining person to discuss the music business with. He last e-mailed me in April 2024 to wish us good luck with our “Seasons In Exile” … Continue reading

Chordblossom – Track by Track
“…Unquiet Nights have been around longer than us which is saying something. Their debut album 21st Century Redemption Songs appeared a month before Chordblossom debuted back in 2012.
Fast forward twelve years to the present day and they are back with their third full length record, Seasons In Exile. It was recorded at Credential Sound, with additional recording at Manor Park Studio before being mixed & mastered by Neal Calderwood.
Luke Mathers took some time out of his busy schedule to give us a run through of each track on the record…”

Hot Press – “Diamond and the Missing Son” (Single)
Swinging into force in 2024 with Americana/rock songwriting, Unquiet Nights have today dropped their new album ‘Seasons in Exile’, one of the highlights of which is their new track ‘Diamond and the Missing Son’ which will delight fans of the likes of Rick Springfield and Deep Blue Something. With crystal clear vocals and scratchy guitar, the track will have you nostalgic for a time you never experienced- evoking images of big American cars, blistering hot summers and denim cut offs. Unquiet Nights hope their new single won’t just do well in the digisphere, but that people will buy physical copies: ‘‘We hope it will do millions of streams, but even more we hope some people will still want to buy it!”. And with tracks like ‘Diamond and the Missing Son’ why wouldn’t you?
Belfast Telegraph – Northern Exposure (“Seasons in Exile”)
Comeback kids Unquiet Nights are promising plenty of noise this year.
Loved by Sky Sports and BBC Radio One and lauded by the likes of Hot Press magazine, these Belfast and Italy-based rockers have just released their first new material in nearly two years in the form of single “Diamond And The Missing Son” and the hook-laden gem was worth the wait.
On January 19th, they unveil their third album “Seasons In Exile” and we’ve had an advance listen and can confirm it’s brimming with belters that fans of Genesis and Tom Petty will love. Listen to: “Diamond And The Missing Son”.
Gerry Kelly Show
Major agreement with legendary talk show hosts going on over at @unquietnights Twitter about how musicians are supposed to get exposure at the minute. I wonder if Mr. Kelly preferred interviewing us, or Roger Moore though? (Rhetorical…) #newmusic #interview #single #northernireland
Sunday Life – Northern Stars (“Diamond…”)
“…Returning rockers Unquiet Nights have just released a brand new single that will get your New Year’s Eve party started with a bang…”
Album – “Seasons In Exile”

We’ve been working on the album for a long time, and are pleased to say it will be out on 19th January 2024.
In The Air Tonight (Sarah Champion)
My Genesis & Phil Collins obsession needs little encouragement. Sarah Champion provoked it this time though.
Studio Update – “Diamond and the Missing Son”
This was the night we finished “Diamond and the Missing Son” (1st Dec, 2022). Seems worth reposting because it’s been out for nearly a year now and has 84,380 Spotify streams as of 12.12.2024. If I had known I would’ve smiled in the photo. Promise.
Eclectic Music Lover (Review) – “In Spite Of It All”
“…Now Unquiet Nights are back with a new single “In Spite of It All“, which they’ve released in conjunction with their third album First Ten (2012-2022). A sort of ‘greatest hits so far’, the album commemorates the ten year anniversary of their debut album 21st Century Redemption Songs, in recognition of their impressive body of work over the past decade….”
Compilation – First Ten (2012-2022)
Today is the 10th anniversary of our first album “21st Century Redemption Songs“. We thought we’d put a bow on our first decade with a collection of singles that have meant a lot on our journey so far. The compilation is called “First Ten” and includes two songs from “21st…”, three from “Postcards in Real … Continue reading
Single – “In Spite of It All”
A new single is here! It’s called “In Spite of It All“ and was something that came out of the many long nights we spent in Credential Sound during the lockdown period that was 2020 & 2021! 2021 – Year in Review

Phil Collins, Bret “Hitman Hart”. Studio Mascots.
Credential Sound isn’t complete without our spiritual guides overseeing recording. My Phil Collins autograph, and my Bret “Hitman” Hart autograph. If you think they aren’t related check out Bret’s last line in the Summerslam 1990 promo.
Hot Press – “Four Winds” (Single)
“…The NI/Italy based band’s first new material of 2019 is a soaring statement of intent. Their darkest offering to date, it tips it’s hat to Dave Gilmour’s famous guitar-work, while telling a tale of a twisted love affair. Bolstered by a stadium-bothering chorus, this number really impresses with repeat plays. Here’s hoping there’s more new material on the way…”
Hot Press “Four Winds” (Online)
Acclaimed rock band Unquiet Nights unveil their first new material of 2019 today via all digital platforms. A seductive, stadium-ready number that stakes a claim as the soundtrack to the summer, ‘Four Winds’ sees the band’s mainman Luke Mathers’ tell a deliciously dark tale of intense attraction and wrap it around a surging chorus to die for.
Single – “Four Winds”
FOUR WINDS will be on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, 7digital, Bandcamp & Google Play from 14th June 2019
Eclectic Music Lover (Review) – “Four Winds”
“…Now they return with “Four Winds“, a superb single that keeps their perfect score of releasing excellent guitar-driven songs fully intact…”
Lennox Lewis
Good to know I share the same movie taste as Lennox Lewis. Always liked him. I remember listening to the Lewis – Tyson fight on the radio at about 4 AM from Memphis with my grandad when I was 16.
BBC Northern Ireland – “Young Believers”
YOUNG BELIEVERS got an airing on BBC Across The Line tonight. The episode is here on the BBC website, and below you can hear journalist Stuart Bailie (NME, etc) making comparison to Pearl Jam which we appreciate. Wasn’t born sounding like Roy Orbison as he notes, as much as I wish I was. Thanks to the BBC & Stuart.
Single – “Young Believers”
YOUNG BELIEVERS is our new single. This was another one we recorded in the same sessions as PROMISE OF YOU, and we hope it finds you well. We recorded it mostly at our own Credential Sound, and then finished it off at Manor Park Studio as we usually do. You will find it on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, 7digital & Google Play, as well as on Bandcamp.

Sounds of NI – “Emerging Artist”
So the singer of Pay*ola is also the host of the Sounds of NI radio show & podcast. We were naturally elated to hear that for Episode. 109, we were Emerging Artist of the week, and that “Promise of You” was on the show. Being an old school Pay*ola fan I’ll tip “Beautiful People” and “How’d … Continue reading
